My name is Lauren and I’m a librarian at a university library in suburban New York City. I’m single and have a sister named Jessica, who married the love of her life, Armand Badeau, two years ago. Our parents were killed in an accident earlier this year and this will be my first Christmas without them.
How sad. Where will you be spending the holidays?
My sister lives in France, and she invited me to spend the holidays with them at their chateau. As much as I look forward to going and seeing Jessica, I’m a little scared, because Nicolas will be there.
Why are you worried about Nicolas?
Because he is a charming, handsome, suave man who attracts women like bees to honey. I don’t want to be another one to fall at his feet!
Did he do something to make you feel this way?
::sigh:: Yes! Two years ago, we met for the first time during the preparations for Jessica and Armand’s wedding. I was the Maid of Honor and Nic the Best Man. We spent a lot of time together and I felt myself falling for him. But I can’t! He kissed me at the wedding reception. I came this close to letting him carry me off to a room at the hotel where the reception was being held. Thank God I came to my senses and ran away before I fell under his spell.
Is that a bad thing? Falling for Nic?
Yes. Because I want more than one night with him.
